On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Move on

Life is definitely improving around here, the next step is to get more done.  I still sleep a lot, but remind myself that I had three surgeries in January and it takes a while to reclaim lost energy.  I did notify Juvenile Hall that I would return for the girls' therapy group on April 1st, I may have told you that already.  It will be good to be back doing something I consider "work." I've been there off and on since October, but was hoping to be more reliable from now on, the way I used to be.

Also, I have paint supplies spread all over the kitchen table but have yet to twist open a tube. I haven't done any kind of sketching either.  It's very hard to catch myself in motion these days.

In the meantime, it's definitely spring here.  There is yellow everywhere - mustard, daffodils - and it's time to set in new plantings.  The hens are beginning to produce reliably and we're enjoying fresh egg salad sandwiches and other eggy things.

Aside from burning pain from the radiation, I'm really doing well now, something I wasn't able to say a month ago.
