On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Great News!

This is Steve speaking for Barbara.  Surgery complete and surgeon says best possible result!  Obstruction caused by a single localized tumor which they were able to remove and then reconnect the bowel.  Surgeon expects Barbara will do very well.  She will remain in the hospital for a week, maybe two, for recovery and then home to Sonoma.  When the surgeon came out and told me this I lost all restraint and hugged her right there in front of everybody!  And I gotta say it - along with Dr. May the surgeon, the nursing staff here at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Rosa, both on 4 North and in the OR, are awesome!

  4. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and comments. I'm quite groggy right now, but that's the important part until I get my head together.
