On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Walking, walking

There was a potluck lunch after church today combining the folks from two congregations.  When Steve is in town we usually attend the earlier service so this morning it was nice to see the later folks again.  The weather was lovely and we were able to enjoy time together in the shade of the plane trees.

Last night I made a commitment to myself to walk 30 minutes every day no matter what.  That's a miniscule amount, but since I don't walk every day now it would be an increase of what I'm doing.  While folks were leaving church and setting up for the potluck I decided to take Demi for a walk around the block since she had been so quietly under the pew for the last hour.  One of the men of the parish joined me so we had a 20-minute walk and chatted our way around.  I still have ten minutes of walking to complete my daily agreement, but I've started off well and really want to put some muscle (literally) into maintaining this for the sake of improved health.
