On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Keeping the doctor happy

Here in northern California it was cold and misty all day.  I drove past the vineyards early this morning when the workers were all wearing jackets and I had the heater and windshield wipers on.  Weird for July.

The oncologist doesn't want to see me for three months.  I went for an infusion of Aredia (a bone strengthener) and a visit with him.  My tumor marker is just a few points above normal - where it sat for ten years - and showed a 12-point drop from May.  All my other lab results were within normal range, Yes!

I am now free to resume my life, which is a good thing since I signed up for a painting class next fall, have five dogs in the house, and am busy making more camping plans with Youngest Grandson and Youngest Daughter.

I don't know what I would have done if the oncologist had reported bad news.  I mean, when you feel well you step on it!
