Almost back to normal

I planted some white petunias this morning and counted the sunflower seeds that have broken through the soil - five so far.  The tomato plants are standing upright and, so far, the chickens haven't hopped the fence to nibble on the leaves - or those cute little yellow flowers.  I told Steve I'm going to be mightily annoyed if the chickens start munching - he's the one who thinks it's a good idea to let them out of their pen in the evening.  The plants are in a four foot square area and I stapled chicken wire around the edges.

I read my first graphic memoir today - graphic in the sense of cartoon style drawings to illustrate and tell the story.  Fun House, by Alison Bechdel was a riveting read with several themes and story lines - one of which was about growing up in a funeral home.  The author was mentioned in a friend's blog some weeks ago HERE and I was intrigued.  This isn't the new book Rebecca mentioned, but I'm on the library hold list and will get to that one later in the summer.
