On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Good news

I had such a great day today!  I saw the oncologist this morning and he was very pleased with the most recent CT scan.  (It's important to keep your onc happy.)  His recommendation - an option - was to tack on two more cycles of Taxotere, which I have no problem doing.  As much as I'd like to be finished with chemotherapy, just two more rounds is totally doable and will give onc peace of mind. (It's important to keep your onc mentally peaceful.)

The psychological boost was enormous.  It means there really is an end to chemotherapy and that the scans showed only one spot left and it is much smaller.  It also means that Gemzar is still an option for another time - and so is a third round of Taxotere if the next remission is long enough.  One of my greatest fears is running through treatments and having nothing left...

I'll be done in six weeks -- and then I can focus on growing hair, getting my energy back and resuming my life.  I should have a great summer.

Until then I can focus on my spring hat collection....
