On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Crawling through it all

The oncology pharmacist called me yesterday because he was concerned about my new blood tests.  "You don't have much of an immune system, the numbers are the lowest they've ever been." He reminded me not to eat salads, lots of hand washing and the usual warnings.  I feel like an invalid!

Some of the numbers will begin to improve now that I've passed the nadir period of this cycle of chemotherapy.  But I am concerned that I won't be able to complete the last three cycles of Taxotere if things are this bad at only the half-way mark.

None of this was a problem ten years ago when I sailed through the exact same treatment.  But that was ten years ago.  I was practically young!

  1. I think you are still young in your head. You always seem so upbeat even when you get bad news and don't feel 'up to scratch' I hope you are ok

  2. Hang in there, kiddo! I want you to live forever so we can read each other's blogs for many years.

  3. Thank you both. Jill, I honestly don't feel old - until I look at the calendar!
