On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Facing cancer

I haven't received the results from yesterday's CT scan yet and won't until at least Monday.  That's plenty enough time for me to go totally bananas-bonkers and I'm showing signs of it already.  I coughed - must be mets in the lungs.  I hiccuped, oh, it's landed in my esophagus.  And so it goes.  Having a test hanging out there unread is all it takes for my imagination to get the best of me.

Youngest Daughter has an overnight scheduled tonight to try out a Board-and-Care facility for disabled adults.  That's a way of saying that Steve and I have a 24-hour respite, the first in I don't know how long.  I hope it works out because she really wants to move on and, at 38, it's about time.  It's sort of a case of can't live with her, can't live without her.  I'll be missing her this whole night.

Steve bought pumpkins for Halloween and I've noticed some yard decorations in the neighborhood.  This is a favorite time of year for us.  The vineyards are stunning in their colors, but the days are still comfortably warm with nights in the 30s.  Some rain would be nice, but I can't complain about the clear blue skies.

Have a nice rest of the weekend, Everyone!

  2. I hope you enjoyed your 24-hour respite, and I hope that you find out about the scans soon (I agree that waiting can give too much rein to the brain).
