On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Down at the mouth

I received the worst possible news from the oncologist today.  The CT scan showed metastases in four different sites, enough that a systemic chemotherapy regimen will be ordered.  I'm in mild pain, but have medication to control that.

I have reduced my work load some and will bow out of some other activities because I know I won't be able to manage once the chemo is started.

Let's just say this wasn't my best day.

  1. Oh my....and darn, darn, darn. I won't pretend that I know what news like that feels like first-hand, but I hope that the doctors come up with a good chemo plan and that it gets underway soon. Be kind to your strong & amazing self. Keeping you in my thoughts.

  3. Thank you both. My blog is going to be so boring now - lots of whingeing about how awful I feel! - Barbara

  4. I am so sorry to hear this news. You go ahead and whine and complain. You ought to be able to do so with this news. Hopefully the new medicines will help with some of the sickness. Sorry I have been late to your blog lately - I'm back out in California with my daughter's family which is so chaotic I have trouble getting anything done in my normal routine but I will be checking in so whine away!
