On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Color me old and gray

I've asked Steve and Oldest Daughter to give me Copic markers for my birthday so that I can use them as I learn manga.  I've always wanted to be able to cartoon my day the way some bloggers do very nicely so creating the forms and then being able to color them in with real shading sounds like my idea of fun.

I almost have to take out a calculator to figure out my age these days, I'm definitely getting up there.  The truth is, however, the decade of the 60s has, so far, been the best one of my life.  When I was diagnosed at 57 I never dreamed I would even see 60 and now it looks like I'll even see the end of the decade.

Amazing!
