On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Is it summertime?

Steve and I enjoyed a beautiful drive to Ukiah (about 80 miles) through some of the most gorgeous scenery in Wine Country.

On the return trip we stopped in a Sonoma County Regional Park in Healdsburg for a brief picnic near the Russian River. Clumps of lupin were blooming near the banks, as were wild radishes, a few California poppies and wildflowers I couldn't identify.

Back home, I was reading the Sunday newspaper -- one of life's true pleasures, settling in with the paper! -- and heard the attic fan click on for the first time this year. Is it that warm? Could it be true?

Later, out on the deck painting lawn furniture, I neglected to use sunscreen and have a bit of color on my face. I know there is rain in the forecast tomorrow night, but today it was summertime!

  1. sounds like summertime to me! It's lovely and sunny here in Wales but still to cold. Both kids wore hats and jackets outside today.
