Don't leave home without it
I'm trying to get more in the habit of drawing on the run vs. sitting in my home and working more laboriously. It's shocking how my skill level drops umpteen levels once I begin to work quickly with multiple images and many distractions.
Yesterday I took Brix to the vet (chronic ear inflammation) and went to the donut shop across the street when we left (temptation, temptation). I didn't really draw anything - no people, no donut case full of treats, no chairs and tables - just the chalk board and menu area on the wall. But I want to begin incorporating more of my surroundings in just this way as a visual chronicling of my days on earth - very different from setting a photo or object in front of me and working in the quiet of my home.
It's so amazing what a difference it makes to draw in situ rather than sitting at home and doing it. The anxiety level really rises, doesn't it! You did a good job with this, and good for you for stretching! nancy
ReplyDeleteI loooove apple fritters! With coffee, just can't get better. And sketching, too. Good outing.
