On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

I watched and watched and watched the congressional meeting with President Obama on the proposed healthcare bill. That gave me more than enough time to draw this flamingo. Actually, I watercolored it first, didn't care for the result, and Prismacolored over it.

We're just a couple hours away from the next storm, supposedly a big one. It is about an hour away, so I'm told, and will be intense tomorrow.

All that water, that should make my flamingo very happy.

  1. I think your flamingo looks quite happy now! He almost seems to be smiling - it makes me feel good just to look at him! nancy

  2. The effects of the colored pencil over the watercolor are phenomenal! I think you should try it with the background also! Very nice flamingo!

  3. I love the colors and the texture of the beak (bill?).

  4. Well I sure like him how you have him here. I haven't done my flamingo yet.

  5. Ah.. doesn't your flamingo look happy.. a nice cheerful one :)

  6. This IS a really happy looking piece. Great effect with the colored pencil over the watercolor. A nice feel good piece.
