On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Button, button

Several months ago, on a whim, I created a mail art project HERE. My project, named "Button, button, who has the button?" invited participants to interpret the question as they would and mail me their responses. My agreement was to send each person a postcard in return.

I have received several clever cards, most with actual buttons sewed on, some with threads trailing. It's amazing what you get past the post office these days, more than you would imagine, that's for sure.

Whenever I hear "Button, button" I think of an old childhood game where kids sit around in a circle and surreptitiously pass around a button and a child in the center must figure out who has it now. (Oh, the simplicity of games before electronics were invented.)

But to me, whenever I see a flock of chickens scratching in the earth, it looks to me like they are searching for that elusive button!

  1. I remember that game, too! It was fun, but then, I was easily amused. I think I still am! Anyhow, your drawing is cute, clever, and well done! nancy

I remember it, too. We were all easily amused back then. I still am sometimes. :) Love the drawing and it is well done.
