One step after the other
I walked 38 miles during the month of August. For those of you who consider that to be a paltry number, as I do, I have two things to say:
--- It was 38 more miles than in any other month of 2009, and
--- I will surpass that number during September.
In the meantime, I feel much better. I have more energy and am being more productive and setting more goals.
I guess the increase in walking makes it all the more ironic that I chose to sketch a rocking chair as one part of my art homework. This is pencil on drawing paper.
The chair, at least, holds still, which is more than I can say for the dogs and humans who pose for me. On the other hand, this particular chair is drawn all wobbly and distorted, which amuses me. Imagine, a drunken rocking chair!
Today was Aloha Sunday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Napa, California. There is no such thing as Aloha Sunday in any liturgical calendar, it was simply made up some years back and is now tradition on Labor Day weekend in this parish.
Demi always dresses for the day. Poor, long-suffering canine, I had time to sketch her twice and colored her with my kid set of Prang watercolors.
Congrats on your miles! I'm a walker, too, and life is good one step at a time. Nice to rest in the rocking chair after a walk. :)
ReplyDeleteAloha to the dogs and to you.
Great accomplishment in the walking department! Demi is a good model! Cooperative....
ReplyDeleteAloha! and good for you!
ReplyDeleteI just returned from Hawaii, and did some hiking there, but I really need to start walking on a regular basis, thanks for the inspiration!
