On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Practice and learn

I got good grades on the first two homework assignments in my art class but was dinged for not adding shading. I didn't know how! So today, while drawing this budding camelia stem in class, I focused on the shading and shadows. It's a definite improvement and nice to know I LEARNED SOMETHING!

  1. Well done! Shadows are scary. I've done some that just went completely wrong. Yours look great!

  5. Thank you all.

Elaine - I know I am fortunate. The community college system in California is really inexpensive and all over the state. There are 3 choices within 25 miles, several more within an hour's drive.
