On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Ready for a new day

Our nation is experiencing unprecedented excitement regarding Barack Obama's inauguration tomorrow. In honor of our first African-American president and our first president from Hawaii, I drew plumeria, one of my most favorite flowers. My son lives in Honolulu; I would love to be there with him now.

In the meantime, today was our tenth day of above normal temperatures. I took Brix and Demi for a short walk this afternoon just to soak up the sunshine, which was glorious.

Youngest Daughter is continuing to do well. She didn't have any pain medication today, an enormous step forward. But she did say one really funny thing: "I miss my gallbladder."

  1. I just got new watercolor pencils and posted some. It was so fun to see yours and recognize the medium you used! Love it.

  2. It was quite a day, wasn't it? Tell your daughter she'll get over the separation anxiety soon enough! :)
