On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The eve of Christmas eve

Here in northern California it will be Christmas Eve in about three hours. Just three hours! I have bread baking, the scent wafting, the tree is shining in white lights, the animals are laying around the living room keeping me company and it's soon going to storm outdoors. It's been unusually cold here this week - about 10 or 15 degrees below normal - so we wake up to ice in any little puddle.

I have a bunch of wrapping to do tomorrow, but am otherwise ready for Christmas Day. So I parked myself in front of the telly and drew hands. I haven't had much experience drawing hands and now I know why everyone says, "Hands are hard to draw." Ooh, yes!
