On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Pour on gesso

Our mixed media class has a semester long assignment to make artist journals. I sort of know what I'm doing so I got started and look forward to learning new skills and techniques as the course proceeds. I began with the frontispiece (don't you just love that word? I've used it about twice in my life.)

Then I added a word journal page followed by an impression of a little kid's tee-shirt that I observed.

I used gesso for these pages but I plan to do all sorts of things between now and mid-December. I'm thinking of it as my own personal playground!
