On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Animal kingdom

I took Demi to my watercolor class this afternoon but I felt so stale and uninspired that it was all I could do to draw her! Of course, she's one of my most favorite subjects so that's not all bad news.

I have to admit to being a little preoccupied this week since I started the massive project of clearing out the garage. I hired a dumpster, which I filled in 30 minutes, and the garage still looks the same. But at least 25 cubic feet of junk is being hauled away tomorrow morning.

I've also been obsessed by the Democratic Convention in Denver and have watched all the main speeches and hours of commentary. I sorted magazines and boxes of stuff while the talking heads told me what I was supposed to have seen and understood.

In the meantime, the Mixed Media class is
going well. I put together another collage
last night. I wish I could say I created the
sentiment but no, I saw it several years ago
and have been pondering ever since: "If a

  1. I really enjoyed your drawings of the dogs. Well done!

your dog drawings are stellar as usual. drawn with tender-loving care.

I hired a jumbo bin at work recently - in a week we got rid of all kinds of rubble. Very liberating. Glad you're still drawing :-)

  4. Why do the media have to overtalk during conventions and other stuff? I don't want their opinions; they've mostly been wrong this whole election season so far.

Filling a whole dumpster is no mean feat! I'd say it's a big start.

Demi looks wonderful. You know how Georgia O'Keefe painted so many flowers? Well, maybe your dogs are what you enjoy painting the most.
