On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

First 8 days

I completed the spread for the first eight days of our time in Ireland. I was so tired each day that the only way I could keep up was to finish each column on the same day. But it was so fun that I'm wondering if I can maintain the practice as a regular habit.

  3. Your work is wonderful! I really love the approach, and you truly have me inspired! I have been trying and trying to visually journal but I just can't seem to "get it" - it's just easier to write. You have captured the essence of your trip in a way that wouldn't be possible in just words. Thank you so much for showing me the way - you have moved me.

  4. This is a really unusual and fun layout, Barbara. I think I would go silly trying to fit my sketches in that vertical format ... You have done a great job! I like the inclusion of a daily weather summary at the top of each column.

Was it the full Irish breakfast you had, complete with white pudding? Yum!

  6. Clonmachnoise! My husband's aunt runs the little restaurant area there-it's a beautiful place, isn't it?

Your trip looks wonderful, as does your journal.
