On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

It's wildflower time

I worked late this evening and wasn't home until almost 10:00 so didn't have much time to draw. But the sun is bringing everything to bloom and the wildflowers are going crazy with happiness.

According to my field guide, this is a wild radish and there are many in our area. The leaves are sort of radishy but there is no bulb at the base. So I at least sketched this little drawing with watercolor pencils on 4x6 Lanaquarelle watercolor paper, the perfect size for a postcard to mail to one of my grandchildren.

  2. Sadly, it is not wildflower time in Chicago. Not even close. But your drawing is a little bit of sunshine!

  3. Thank you, both of you. The wildflowers here in northern California are absolutely incredible this year (probably because of all the rain we had last month). - Barbara
