On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Ode to red

In my watercolor class on Tuesday we were learning more about mixing colors on the page by layering. I painted an apple with eight layers of various colors - pthalo blue, Indian yellow and Winsor red. I was so pleased by the result that I came home and collaged on the theme of "RED" which reminded me of many childhood memories. (Click to enlarge.) This works for the Everyday Matters challenge #91 - Draw an apple.

  3. Love the Ode to Red, both the collage and the apple. I especially like the collage...made me think of what color I was wearing when I was 10.
