On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

My hand

After living with the same hands for all these years you'd think I could get one hand to draw the other one! It wasn't that easy....practice, practice, practice.

  1. To draw your own hand is the toughest challenge there is PRECISELY because you think you know it. It can be even more challenging than a self portrait, so much so that the belief that 'if you can draw your own hand you can draw anything' is something I've come across quite a few times over the last few years.

  4. It looks like a hand, so what's your problem? *lol* Some areas are more right than others, and hands are tricky until you get used to them. So far, you are doing just fine.

Hands AND feet are really difficult for me. I think it's a lot like a self-portrait. Your attitude is good tho. Practice, practice and practice and then practice some more. You did a fine job, tho. Wait until you do a couple more and then go back and look at your first try and you will be pleasantly surprised at your progress. Keep up the great work!
