On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

She's six years old again

It's official, I'm in my dotage. When I was about six or seven years old my cousin taught me how to weave potholders. When I was eight I made one each for my grandmother, aunt and teacher for Christmas presents. I wove potholders for several years after that and every now and then, all through my teens, I'd weave another one. When my own children turned sixish I taught them how to make potholders so the tradition continued. And tonight, we've come full circle, I was decluttering and came across a bag of loops and a metal loom, sat myself down and made a bright red and white one.
