On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Honolulu getting closer

It's been an up and down day.  Steve and I walked Brix and Demi for most of a mile and I'm hopeful that a real exercise program is gradually getting established.  Last summer  a 2-mile walk was a breeze, but now, with so much fatigue, a single mile is asking a lot.

I also read in bed a lot, when I was awake enough.  We went out for lunch, but my appetite is so down that it was fun for Steve and a waste for me. I should have stayed home with one-half sandwich instead.  But I also finally got a hair cut - greatly needed - and that probably did more than anything to help me feel human again.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my primary care physician and I'm hoping that will get me back on track again.  I really don't feel well and I'm dealing with constant pain so I'm discouraged most of the time.  But this all comes and goes; tomorrow could be a completely different day.

We are due to fly to Honolulu in a couple weeks so all this has to be resolved by then.  It will be a brief trip - only five days - but we've been looking forward to it for months and I don't want to be the one to mess it up.  We were in exactly the same situation last May - I was completing chemotherapy and ready to begin a healing stint.  That time it worked!  I just sat around the pool and felt stronger day by day.

  1. I do hope and pray that you will feel well enough to go on your trip to HI. That would be so wonderful to soak up sun and relax.
