On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Still here

I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer eleven years ago today. Until August 2011 - first symptoms of a recurrence - I've done wonderfully well.  Now I'm not so sure.

Surgeon #6 stopped by this morning.  They seem to have an endless supply of these folks, each in agreement that my life goal from now on is to try to prevent another obstruction when I'm at high risk for repeats.

I've met with two dieticians so far.  They both have commiserated with me concerning the dietary plan that will offer the most protection, but there's not much they can do to change the goal or the route to reaching it. At this point it almost doesn't matter - I'm just hoping that one day soon the meal tray will offer something I can bite. I mean, Demi better watch her treat bone because it's stuffed with crunchy peanut butter and I would enjoy something like that right about now. Even if I do have to put it on a plain white cracker.

I told Steve it would probably be cost effective to rejoin Costco this year.  When I think of all those bottles of Ensure I'll be swigging, all the little juice boxes I'll be carrying in my purse, all the giant boxes of puffed rice and other fiberless junk cereals, well, it just seems like the right time.  We can stop at IHOP on the way home - eggs and plain pancakes are on the okay list.

With butter and white toast.
