On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

To each his own

This is Demi being tired after all the commotion.  We celebrated two birthdays this evening - mine and Youngest Grandson, who is now officially a teenager.  I reminded him that between us we have 81 years of life experience.

All went well, everyone was happy to have this holiday weekend, lovely weather, a summer menu (Papa's ribs, Nana's potato salad, a garden salad, other sides and a fruit-topped torte for the "cake").

YG thought I was kidding a few weeks ago when I told him he was getting olives for his birthday - but he got five jars, all different, because he's the only person in his family who enjoys them.  At my house I watched him consume entire jars at one sitting, my type of guy, maybe genetic?, because I could do that too.  So now he has his private stash and truly, he was pleased.  Of course, he got other gifts too, but he kept reaching into the gift bag and hauling out olives!

  2. Oh, Ginny, thank you so much. Our birthdays are actually in August - 14th, me and 21st, his - but we've been celebrating them together since he turned one year old. He doesn't seem to mind, but it's all about when we can schedule a get-together.

Question: Any chance that you're going to continue on with your own blog???

  3. I was just looking at the Wild Rose blog this a.m. and didn't realize it has been so long since I have added anything to it. i still have so many family relics and memories that need to be relayed to my daughter. I have started an art blog for my creations, plus, I have the Book of Douglas blog that needs to be finished. So many projects, so little time !! My email, vkjohnson@cox.net -- build a fire under me now and then. I need a kick start once in awhile LOL
