On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Beginning at the beginning

I'm sure there are a thousand things wrong with this sphere, the one I began in class Wednesday night, but until the instructor points to specific areas I won't know what to do next.  These simple beginner exercises are much more difficult to execute than, say, a bird or giraffe in the watercolor I'm more used to.

It's all the more frustrating because the instructor was standing in front of us, holding a canvas, and painting a sphere upside down while she talked.  My jaw was hanging open.  Teacher was done in 10 minutes; mine is at the three hours and counting mark.

Maybe that's why she's the teacher and I'm the student....

  1. I think your sphere looks awesome - great shadow also! As you become for familiar with the medium, you will be able to do it quicker. I wish I could take an art class right now - it would be a great release of tension.
