You ate what?
This afternoon was the annual Ox Roast, a fundraiser for our local community center. We don't actually eat oxen, just great roast beef with good side dishes. All three of us went - Steve, Youngest Daughter, moi. And then we strolled around the art and photography exhibits, many of which were quite nice.
The weather was perfect. Last year the Roast was rained out at the last minute and a gazillion pounds of "ox" was put on quick sale. Today couldn't have been more wonderful -- but tomorrow there is rain expected. That's called cutting it close!

Barbara, what do you think oxe is? It's beef! The animals that were good enough to pull the covered wagons and plow the fields are the same as what we call steers and use for food. Now they might be one brand or another like poodle to lab but they are all beef. My mom used to make ox tail soup and none of us kids wanted it. We didn't know that was just another cut of beef. Hope you had fun. I hope everything is feeling more fun than it did over the last so many months.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that, really, I thought it was a different species!
