On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Nana's art camp

Crocodile tears
Youngest Grandson is spending his spring break with us because his mom started a new job last week.  He's 12, loves arts and crafts, and is easy to please.  That's good because rain is forecasted for every day he'll be here.

I've had an art project each morning.  Today's went like this:  First, I taught him about idiomatic expressions. ("When we say, It's raining cats and dogs, do we really mean cats and dogs are falling out of the sky?")  Then I gave him a list of about 20 examples with the expression highlighted.  His task was to choose one, depict just the expression using torn tissue paper and a glue stick.  Then we shrank it down and turned it into a postcard to send to mom.

  1. That's a great art idea - you are very talented and so is the grandson.
