On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Just sitting around

I spend a lot of time in medical waiting rooms, but I rarely draw the others as they wait - mostly because I don't know how and need to practice.  So today I tried.  This elderly gentleman was sitting, with a bottle of water strategically placed, and never once looked up from his reading while I sketched.

More rain is coming through tonight and for the next few days, but it isn't expected to amount to a whole lot so there is still concern.  Just as I was thinking maybe I should do a bit of gardening the temperature is dropping and the weather is shifting into a more wintery pattern.  Great!  I don't have the energy to dig, plant and pull weeds anyway!

  1. I admire your cheerful attitude. You are often stuck doing things that most of us don't have to do, yet you find the beauty in waiting, driving, and other people. Stay strong! I hope the group home will welcome your daughter with open arms!
