On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Feeling better already

Everybody has their version of chicken soup for the ailing and poorly.  Last week, with no appetite whatsoever, Steve took me to our favorite Mexican restaurant where I only wanted a tiny bowl of tortilla soup.  An enormous bowl arrived, enough for then and more to take home.  It was delicious both times.

This afternoon I wasn't hungry again - I never am - so we went to a local Chinese restaurant and I ordered chicken and noodle soup.  This large economy size bowl arrived, thick with udon noodles and something deep and green that I never eat.  I scarfed down every drop.

What is it about chicken and broth and things added in that make this the world's best comfort food?

I am scheduled for chemotherapy on Tuesday.  I bought my first hat and am trying to get my hair cut before then, something that would make a Marine proud before it falls out in chunks.  (sigh)

  5. Wishing you the best short haircut ever! The chicken soup in all it's forms sounds so good, it would be strange for me not to feel hungry at all. Continuously keeping you in my prayers.
