On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Cold and gray

I'm trying to figure out the pattern for each cycle of chemotherapy.  So far it seems that Days 1 and 2 are easy.  Days 3 and 4 are more difficult because I'm coming off a steroid I have to take to mitigate side effects.  Day 5 is the worst - significant bone and joint pain.  Today is Day 6 and I'm fine except for low energy.

I think the worst is over and that I'll be feeling better up through Day 21 and then the pattern will start over again with the second cycle.  I think that's the way it's going to go....  It would be truly useful to know because I could schedule myself accordingly.  My plan is to work throughout chemotherapy and that would be totally doable if I only knew what days I should avoid.  I mean, yesterday, I couldn't have worked no matter what, but that was the first extreme day and only lasted 24 hours.

Youngest Daughter seems to be settling in to her new home.  She calls and texts each day, but her messages are mostly about good things that are pleasing her, not distress calls.  She'll be here from Wednesday through Sunday to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family.  Both siblings will be in town so, of course, she doesn't want to miss that and Thanksgiving wouldn't be the same without her either.

  1. I hope you can get the rhythm worked out - yes, it would be nice to plan ahead and still do the things you enjoy doing, even if for a lesser amount of time.

  2. You sure have a full plate. Wish your load was lighter and your path easier. You have a great mindset and I wish you the best. Hope your daughter thrives in her new environment. I think we all take our independence for granted.
