On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

What color is that?

I've never mixed so much paint in my life!  Our color theory class is all about mixing, making chart after chart and then painting something to match the current lesson.  There were three charts for this week, three last week, and one before that and who knows how many more to come.  It's calming, rather contemplative, best done in front of television with fingers crossed that a fumble doesn't land a palette of acrylic paint on the carpet. So far, so good.

Oh, and it rained this morning, a true surprise, the first rain of the weather year (which begins on July 1st, don't ask me why).

  1. Your dedication to color theory and mixing makes me want to go back to studying that too. Keep on with the good work! (Love your giraffe painting.)

  2. I go nuts making charts! I wish it were more soothing to me. So glad you got the rain. There's nothing quite like the smell of rain in the air.
