On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Nana and her homework

I spent all afternoon on my art class homework.  The assignment was to use analogous colors - those neighboring on the color wheel.  I used greens, oranges and reds - cheated with a little black - and called it a day.  It's due on Monday but there's another project due then too and that will keep me entertained tomorrow. (sigh)

The weather shifted today and it was lovely and pleasant all day.  Tomorrow will be cooler yet, but it isn't expected to last.  September is usually the warmest month in northern California -- so we're a couple months off schedule from the rest of the country which considers July to be hot.

Lovely! I think giraffes was a great idea for this and it's such a warm picture, the colours work so well!

  2. Gosh this is pretty! I love your colors, and the black eyes just needed to be black. I like your homework better than mine, I started an art class in colored pencil and our first assignment was to layer complementary colors to create gray and do a drawing completely in gray! It sounded a lot easier when she said it than when I tried it!

  5. Your giraffes are lovely, color exercises can get so boring, but are so worth the effort, you will gain such an understanding of color that doesn't come any other way. Not sure I would mix my colors in front of the TV though, I would be afraid of mixing a color I loved and then not know how I got there.
