On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Life is short, choose a color

We've gotten as far as monochromatic colors in my color theory class.  The last assignment was to choose one of the primaries and complete an acrylic painting with that one color.  (Black and white don't count.)  I chose yellow and mixed up various grays.

(I'm not fond of acrylic paint, by the way, but let's not get negative.)

Because our environmental training class yesterday focused on reptiles I decided to combine the two interests and drew this guy.  On our hike we saw several Western Fence lizards (they aren't yellow) and five Pacific rattlesnakes.  They were being, uh, pacific....

  1. I really like this guy. The colors pop so much against the gray, and his expression is so fun

  2. It was fun! I got a little frustrated with the limitations - only one color - but got into the challenge. - Barbara
