On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Now, what?

The little mailbox garden is coming along nicely and the dwarf sunflowers are beginning to form center buds.  We'll have blooms later this month, something to look forward to.

I saw the oncologist today, not good.  He said my cancer marker has risen three times in the last 18 weeks.  Should I freak out?  I've decided not to, at least not until later in the week when I received the CT scan results.  I feel great, that part is good.  In the past the marker has trended up even higher in an equal time period and then fallen without treatment, also good.  At least I have reason to be hopeful and, for now, I'm hanging on to that.

  1. Oh dear, I'll be praying for you... maybe the recent stress has effected your numbers... I know when I'm stressed it affects me in lots of ways. Stay positive.

  2. Thank you, Elaine. I'm hopeful.
