On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Countdown to school

I don't know why I'm so excited about classes beginning on Monday, but I really am!  I usually have some sort of instruction going, but it's been about two years since I've taken an art class on campus.  Usually I stick to our local senior center where anyone over 21 is eligible for the watercolor classes because they are offered by our local community college.  Well, let's just say I'm over 21....

I'm also looking forward to being trained with an environmental group, but that doesn't begin until after Labor Day.  The combination is perfect -- learning how to draw and paint better and learning about animals and botanicals, the very things I want to be able to depict.

As I say, perfect!
