On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Resting on Sunday?

Our Sunday turned out to be the busiest day of the week.  Steve was working at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Lakeport so we were on the road by 7:30 for their 10:00 service.  Afterwards we stopped off in Library Park for a family picnic by the lake and then drove home by another route.  The roads over the mountains were a series of twisty-turny hairpins, the sort that make one's stomach long for home. But the scenery was gorgeous and it was fun constructing the map this morning showing all the towns we drove past or through.

That was only the first part of the day.  In the evening we attended the annual docents' picnic for California Parks.  It was a lovely event held on the picnic grounds of Petaluma Adobe, one of the parks threatened with closure most of the week but of significant importance to the history of this area.

I slept well last night, that's for sure.
