On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Compared to a robin it's bigger/smaller/fatter/thinner.....

Now that I know what a kestrel is I can begin to learn how to draw one!  These are small raptors and I was truly surprised to see one on a telephone wire in town.

Along the way I also learned - you probably already knew this - that the American Robin is the standard by which birds are compared.  A kestrel is larger than a robin, a hummingbird is smaller, that sort of thing.

You might need that bit in a crossword puzzle sometime, I'm always surprised by what random trivia is exactly the answer to some strange clue.
