On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Who are you?

I took this guy's picture a couple days ago but I'm not sure who he is.  We have a fair number of red-shouldered hawks in the area and I'm wondering if this is a young one.  It was smaller than what I usually see and didn't have the striping that I've come to recognize - but it was a lot larger than a regular song bird.  It was also in a residential neighborhood which struck me as odd because all the hawks I've seen have been near open fields - but usually perched on wires as this one is.  'Tis a mystery.

  1. I don't have a clue either...I'm not so good with identifying birds, especially ones that don't live where I live.

  2. Hmmm... it is a very nice bird. I'm not certain what it is either, but it could be a young hawk. I love spotting unusual birds!
