On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The one thing to do

It rained buckets today, new storms just kept coming through.  So I did the obvious thing, I curled up with a great book and let Mother Nature do her thing.  The book,  Every Last One, by Anna Quindlen, who is one of my most favorite authors.  Like all of her novels, this was a riveting page turner, but one with extraordinary pain in the midst of loving family life. There's so much tender detail, the very stuff of life, but not usually with the twists that catch our breath and shock us into flipping to the next page and the next.
