On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

A new day

Seagull
The sun is shining brightly, finally, after a gray start this morning.  I worked several hours today and am glad for a break, at least for a little while.

For some reason the neighborhood birds were wildly excited this morning, so much so that they woke me up just after 5:00, not my usual time to get up.  I was so early that I woke up the chickens to let them out of their coop instead of them standing by the door in wait.

The entire community is rejoicing in our new weather.  Yesterday a neighbor hired a laborer to trim bushes and the saw was buzzing away for hours while the guy was getting the overgrowth caught up. The Tuesday evening farmers market was bustling with activity.  The more I think about it, the more I think I know what those raucous birds were saying:  "The sun's coming out, the sun's coming out, the sun's coming out, rejoice and see the sun!"

  4. That bird has character! I MUST try gouache -- the solidity of it works so well here.
