On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Sad day

I spent a pleasant couple of hours drawing with a group of boys in Juvenile Hall.

But when I got home I discovered one of the chickens was dead on the ground. I have no idea what happened. The other five were up in their roost, already asleep, but Rachel, one of two Rhode Island Reds, had obviously died several hours earlier. I couldn't find any marks of a skirmish so I don't know what happened.  She was only eleven months old.

That was our first lost chicken and we're distressed.
