Why didn't I think of that?

Every now and then I hear about a great idea. This morning, when I glanced at the front page of the Sonoma Index-Tribune, I couldn't help but see this charming photo and was compelled to read the accompanying article.

This gist of it is that a small grant was procured to help shelter animals get adopted and, at the same time, find a way for budding authors to get published. You know those descriptions of animals in public shelters - "Daisy, a loving cocker spaniel, likes to play with balls and chase frisbees. She enjoys children, but does not get along well with cats..."?  Well, this local project lets elementary kids write the descriptions and the newspaper publishes their work on the kids' page, a regular feature.

You can't see it from my blurry photo, but the caption under the picture says the student is interviewing this cat, one with special needs. Tell me that's not awwwww quality!
