Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
In my next life I promise to become a meteorologist. I talk and think about weather constantly, I obsess, I relish weather.
According to the forecasters, we will wake up to rain tomorrow and it will get heavy by afternoon. OK, that's good.
But here's the better part: On Friday, if we're good little children, it might even snow! It hasn't snowed in San Francisco since 1976, a year before we moved there. About ten years ago - I forget exactly when - there was about half an inch 60 miles north of San Francisco, where we live now. I took photos, it was that big of a deal to northern Californians.
And now it might, just might, happen again. When I mentioned the possibility to the boys in Juvenile Hall this afternoon they had already heard about it. They had hopes of going out in the rec yard and throw snowballs. I don't even know if the staff has had training for snow play or if Juvenile Hall has a protocol for what to do if it snows. I mean, this is not something that happens often around here and that's why I'm so excited... and hopeful.
It is exciting isn't it? We get a couple of snowfalls each year here but I remember once when I was in high school in El Cajon, California, the teachers couldn't keep us in the classrooms when we saw the snow coming down. It didn't stick anywhere but for a few seconds on a cold car but we enjoyed it so much. I hope you get it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for the snow, we get our fair share of snow, everyone complains about it except me. I so hope you get enough to have fun in it
ReplyDeleteYou can have all our snow. I hope you get some, it is fun and pretty when it's fresh, white and beautiful.
