In her dotage
I frequently see photos by home designers who have carefully arranged shelves of books according to colors. That is so inane. The same author might be feet away, subject matter is ungrouped and it seems totally brainless.
At least it did until this morning. I had eight shelves of books I wanted to dismantle, completely dust and replace. For my own amusement - I must have been bored - I grouped these three shelves by color.
It was a more difficult task than I anticipated. Books usually have several colors on the spine, all in a pick-me-up-and-buy-me scheme so I had to make big decisions about whether a book should go with the whites or the browns, for example, and didn't always make the best decision.
When I was younger life wasn't as complicated!

by color? I've never done that. My books are all grouped by subject or type.
ReplyDeleteOkay, color is okay but I think you should have used a color wheel and put blue next to yellow next to green next to...
ReplyDeletejust kidding. I'm jealous that you got them dusted. Whew.
