On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

One day left

My holiday weekend is dwindling quickly, just one day left. Yesterday afternoon I got that needed nap and am grateful for that. Running on empty just doesn't work for me. Steve walked the dogs, but I was too tired to join him.

We let the chickens free-range in the yard for about an hour before sundown and then they put themselves to bed. They've been working overtime. All six are producing eggs now which totaled 32 for the week. What a luxury! I gave away one dozen, made both potato and egg salad to use a dozen more, Steve used four for chile relleño casserole for dinner and we still have a few left with more on the way, on that I can be sure.

The fog didn't life until mid-afternoon yesterday and then the sun was so weak it almost didn't count.  This is not what the forecasters promised for this week! But it is denim-flannel-corduroy weather and that pleases me mightily...

  3. I like your drawings and what you wrote about chickens working "overtime"...! My beautiful moments were walking down to the library with my 4-yo daughter at sun-set.
