On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

A back to normal Wednesday

Trinity Episcopal Church
Sonoma, California
Most Wednesdays of the year I facilitate a church book group. That gives me opportunity and reason to attend the Healing Eucharist in the hour before our group. But of course I draw my way through it!

I saw two red-shouldered hawks today while I was out and about. The first was on a telephone wire out in the country and then, lo and behold, I spotted another one about 20 minutes later, high up in a tree. For some reason I've taken those hawks as a totem bird for myself. Whenever I see one I know the day will be great!

  1. I love this! Those hawks are definitely a good sign for you.

We all have friends in nature who are there to help us and give us messages -- we just have to notice them!

    Thanks for sharing the story.

  4. Dawn & Nancy -- I used to think of turtles as my totem, but maybe I'm coming out of my shell!

Raena - How many thousand of the very same scene can I draw (and post) before enough is enough?
